First Stop: Dublin
When you arrive in Dublin there are counters of car renting companies in the airport. I recommend to rent a car before you start your journey at home to make sure that you get one. Also it's cheaper.
Hint: when you're not used to drive on the left, fold your left rear-view mirror. On the tight streets it happens fast that the mirror gets broken.
If you want to go to the city centre without a car, there is a nice bus which only stops in the centre of Dublin. It costs 6€ per Person and a round trip ticket costs only 10€. Normal buses drive to the city centre too and only costs 2.70€ per Person but stop at different stations so it will take longer.
Phoenix Park
It's my favourite Park of all time so make sure to visit it! It's definitely worth it.
The grass is lush green. The flowers are gorgeous and you can see animals like a swan or sometimes deers (I couldn't find one but maybe you?). Additionally, there is the Dublin Zoo. I wasn't acually inside the zoo because it's too expensive in my opinion(17€ per Person)and I heard that there isn't something special to see. But if you have kids this might be a possibility.
This is a map. It doesn't look big but tell that your feet afterwords ;)
You can find the monumental at the beginning of your walk. It's nice to sit there. Fantastic view :)
How to get there: You take a bus (any bus I think) for 2.70€. How Long it takes depends on the bus you've chosen. It takes approximately 15 minutes from the city centre. But please take a look on Google maps beforehand because I'm not sure about it. Sorry guys ^^
I also tested Iveagh Gardens. It's okay though. When you want a little piece of green in the city and don't want to drive 15 minutes Iveagh Gardens is a good alternative. The terrain is old and a bit decay but calm.
St. Stephen's Green was absolutely crowded and I can't recommend it. You can definitely leave out!
That was everything about parks in Dublin. Next one is about shopping in Dublin and Trinity College :)
