Ibiza's Hippie Markets
Punta Arabí
Even if the market in Es canar is described as crowded often, it has a great atmosphere and is even less crowded than Las Dalias.
Additionally, Punta Arabi doesn’t offer cheap Chinese souvenirs, like mentioned in some sources, it offers beautiful and unique products with high quality and good prices.
Canopys protect you from the burning sun and a supermarket in the center of the Hippie market sells water bottles (80cents). You’ll need a lot of water. Believe me.
Don’t worry,
you won’t starve, next to the supermarket you can find a cafeteria which offers
hot food like tortilla or paella.
Punta Arabi
can be compared to the “Mauerpark Flea Market” in Berlin. Only that Punta Arabi
is bigger, less crowded and offers various (self made) things.
My visit at
the Punti Arabi Hippie market is an experience I definitely don’t want to miss!
Where: Es Cana at the Club Punta Arabi (Punta Arabi road)You can’t miss it if you’re in Es Cana and many people are following this way on wednesdays^^

Las Dalias
| I could sit here for 1001 nights ♥ |
If Hippie markets would be human beings, Las Dalias would be Punta
Arabis fastidious little sister.
Las Dalias is quite similar to Punta Arabi, you find the same products as well as handmade “exclusive” products in Las Dalias which of course is more expensive. You pay 50-120€ for a blouse. Don’t expect cheap bargains.

Las Dalias has a pillow-seating-accommodation which creates an oriental and
relaxing atmosphere. In addition, a lot
of booths are selling cold self made smoothies and lemonades. Delicious!
| Visit after 2 pm. if you like the ability to move. |
You can also find fresh pizza and a few restaurants.
Unfortunately, I made the mistake to visit Las Dalias at 12 o clock. As
you can see in this picture, you nearly can’t move in this crowd. Better come
after 2 pm, then it’s more comfortable.
For children they have a self
made carousel out of old car tires. The owner rides a bike to move it, so there's no electricity needed. Halleluja environment!
There’s also a night market during summer on Monday and Tuesday .
To put the matter in a nutshell, it’s not necessary to visit both
markets.
I personally prefer Punta Arabi because of the live music, the huge terrain and the affordable prices.
If you’re looking for Hippie clothes with high quality and price, you should visit Las Dalias. Of course you can visit both, if you’re a fan of (Hippie) markets.

Hotel
For visiting the Hippie Markets I recommend to stay in a hotel in Es Cana because we walked 10 minutes to Punta Arabi and 50 minutes to Las Dalias (15 minutes with a car). You can make a nice walk through the beautiful landscape of Ibiza.

If you stay
in another part of Ibiza there are buses to the Hippie markets.
A cheap Hotel with a Pool and a 3 minute walk to the beautiful Cala nova Beach.
You only need 5 minutes on a promenade next to the ocean to Es cana where you find different restaurants and shops (Wednesday the Hippie Market Punta Arabi).
The food is really good, the dinner is my favorite part of the hotel. Also for vegetarians appropriated. The buffet changes every day from Mexican, Chinese, to Spanish. They serve fish every day, fresh fruits to every meal.

The rooms
are clean. If you have a ocean sight your room is automatically over the air
conditioning of the hotel…which makes it not enjoyable to sit on your balcony.
Also don’t choose a Room with pool sight, the hotel’s show with loud music ends
11 pm.
The hotel
offers shows every day next to the pool, like dance shows or quiz evenings or
mini disco for kids. There’s also a big room with a bar, if you want to drink
something.
During the
day, there is an animation program at the pool like botcha, aqua gym or water
polo. This means that there is very loud music the whole day until
approximately 4 pm. Forget about reading…
Of course
you don’t have to stay at the pool, walk 3 minutes to the beach (there’s no
music).
Think about sun creme (everywhere. The sun is burning even if you normally don’t get sunburn. Believe me and my poor burned feet…^^).
On the beach there is no shadow until 4 pm, so take a sun umbrella with you. Or rent a lounger with an umbrella.

The staff is very friendly and always greets back. (So be nice to them too)
In conclusion, I recommend the hotel to people with kids and others. It’s good for the low price, especially the food *yummy*
